Choosing a hypnotherapist can seem like a sticking a needle in a haystack and hoping for the best. In order to help you choose the best hypnotherapist for you there are some simple steps you can take to give yourself the best chance for a positive experience.
Make sure that whoever you contact is a member of a professional body. The National Council of Hypnotherapy has a full list available for you. Also make sure that they have public liability insurance.
It’s a bit more difficult to understand how whoever you contact has learned how to be a hypnotherapist so looking for HPD after their name is useful.
Cognitive Hypnotherapists have a double qualification as they have a cognitive hypnotherapy diploma as well as a hypnotherapy practitioner’s diploma. It is also essential that you have a good rapport with the therapist therefore contacting a few is a good idea. The conversation you have with them in the initial stages will give you a good indication of how you may get on.
